Pandora's Box

Cave Pandora’s Box is in the left side of Belyi Ius River Valley, among picturesque rocks. It is formed in light solid limestone of lower Cambrian. It was found when carrying out archeological excavations of the grotto Wide in 1981 by speleologists V.Vlasenko, A.Karpuhin, M.Kapitov. This cave is the biggest in our region with the length of 13 km, and it has several lakes in its horizontal part. In general there were dug about 50 meters of sloping ways which were used by ancient people. Finding a clay pot, fragments of ceramics, arrowheads in the beginning of excavations and even human bones and skeleton in a pit mouth that leads to grotto Sindibobel confirm this.

It is a peculiarity of passing this cave that it’s difficult for beginner to estimate his strength – climbing in some narrow parts is harder and long-lasting than descent. That’s why unskilled tourist should confine himself by taking a look at interior of the grotto Sindibobel and visiting top levels of the cave. Numerous attempts to explore underwater part of the cave have not been crowned with success yet.
